hi just looking at the moment but maybe thinking of geting a Gecko how hard are these to keep wot will i need im after a smallish lizard all help welcom thanks

Ummm any specific gecko? Some are very hardy, others are quite fragile and need more special care and maintanence. There aren't many large geckos. How small do you want them to be. Considered anoles?

mr Giant Gourami, are you following me? LOL? It is actually quite interesting how some "apetites" develop..( just ranting along because I also recently went into gecos and frogs and herps ) only had snakes for a long time..

Anyway, I have asmall Tokay which is no bother at all. it is nocturnal, just have to moisten the container, clean daily, and put food in...

Understand day geckos are way more complicated..... would, also, love to learn

lol no not following u just love the look of them could u give me a list of the easier ones to keep y are day geckos complicated ??

I know nothing about day geckos, regretttably. Someone will show up and give adcice, surely.

Leopard Geckos are probably the easiest Gecko to keep. They are very docile whereas Tokays tend to be a bit nippier. I do agree they look cool the Tokays but the reason I love Leopards so much is you can handle them and not worry about losing blood. Hah.

It depends on what you are looking for. How small are you talking about? Most geckos, if any, rarely reach a foot. The smaller the lizard, usually the more fragile they are.

Because they Require UVA/UVB Lighting. UVA/UVB is required for Calcium Absorbtion and other health issues. Any Gecko that is not nocturnal will require UVA/UVB Lighting

Nocturnal Gecko species do not require Special Lighting. Although If you wanna watch them, you need a Blue Moon Light or Red Light to see them in their gages. Hunting

I have a New Caledonian Crest Gecko and a Golden Gecko (Viet Nam).
Each is kept in a 29 Gallon Naturalistic Vivarium. Single Housed.

I also have a pair of Red Legged Walking Frogs from Tanzania

If this is your first lizard, then I highly recommend you start with a leopard or African Fat-tailed gecko. Day geckos aren't too difficult to keep, but they are not really the best choice for beginners.
