i was just reading on how to care for baby snapping turtles (i read care sheets when im bored) and it says that you should not feed them gold fish because of copper sulfate...? i get my feeder fish from pet smart and i usually get goldfish because they are bigger than the minnows and both the same price. but now im worried that my little turtles are going to get sick from the goldfish i have been feeding them. has any body else heard about this or have any suggestions?

i havent heard there bad for turtles but i heard just like everyone else about hole in the head disease with oscars and feeders..but im gonna look up on that

Goldfish are pretty much the worst live food you could feed to a reptile or fish.. lol. Fatty, disease ridden, contain enzymes that cause vitamin b1 deficiency...

i think they are only bad as a base diet....for variety as long as they are "clean", it should be ok.

the problem is people get animals that eat live food and feed a monotonous diet hence the deficiencies.

Goldfish are a horrible food, their use can kill matamatas easily for example.
