Are Hepsetus Odoe's aggressive to tankmates?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not usually aggresive except to close competitors, as channarox said, if it looks like them, they don't like it.

Hepsetus odoe are one of the meanest fish I have kept in over 30 years. They will eat or kill any other fish in the tank, period.

those barbs may be at risk other then that your good with those fish

I dont think so! I have an odoe my self and he is very peacful to every other fish that doesnt look like him!
MikeS has a 12-13'' odoe that he keeps with dats Channa plurophtalma, eels etc.

I was looking at some articles on these and found that they vary a lot in temperment, one owner was saying that one of his was mellow but another was just plain nuts.

Mine was flippin nuts to say the least......
Just in loveing memory-

I used to think that they were vicious. A friend had one 5" that killed a dat,sil aro,jar and almost paroon. It wouldn't take any tankmates. It was later put in with larger pacu & oscar and became tame. Now at 8" it's w/7" dorado,9" paroon and smaller paroons w/out problems. Guess it's individual temperment and it changes
