Are Hepsetus Odoe's aggressive to tankmates?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mine was quite a handful - loved to sparr with a similar sized hemichromis fasciatus, but left everything else housed with him alone. That went well until the fasciatus decided he didn't like the odoe and killed him overnight.

Mine was quite fierce, when it was small, it sparred with an equally fierce convict cichlid. Eventually, it damaged it so bad that the bichirs at the bottom took care of the rest. Mine also disagrees with a marulius snakehead of similar length. It likes my endlicheris though, never had problems with them.

Well guys, I bought a 6" african pike yesterday. Day 2: so far so good, it's not showing any signs of aggressiveness and hopefully it stays at a minimum. =D

They can be quite aggressive at times. Mine used to attack a medium sized FRT, and when put together with larger ATFs, it regularly chased them. It killed at least one of them.

mine is approx 12" and in a tank on his own.not because he cant have tankmates, but, thats the way i prefer it.

do not put odoes in with any fish that look simimlar as it will end in tears.my odoe has eaten apollo sharks, clown loaches, tryed to kill a gar after the gar was in the tank for about 10 seconds.odoe tankmates are trial and error really.just be prepared to watch the tank for a few days if you add new tankmates.

any other questions,just ask away.

my cousin has a 12" african pike with aro, gar and jurapari and a wolf fish. The main problem in the tank is with the Wolf Fish! they fight alot...
