Are Jade Sleeper Gobies brackish water fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's not the same as keeping him in BW though & the other fish you have him with do not appreciate the salt.

Ya wasn't saying it was BW. The other fish are doing fine. Just gotta make sure you have salt tolerant species. You are supposed to add a little bit of salt in most freshwater setups. (usually 1 tablespoon per gallon roughly.) So I guess my Jade Goby does just fine in freshwater. Sorry for the mix up.

To be honest, I wouldn't say those other fish were salt-tolerant. And most freshwater set ups do not need constant salt - it's unnatural and will cause problems to many species.

I have had my current Jade Goby for about 18 months in freshwater. He has grown from 3" to 12" in that time. If he is not thriving then he is doing a very good job at concealing it. His colors are more vibrant everyday.

I acclimated him into freshwater, I did not buy him from the LFS and dump him into a freshwater tank. I believe if done correctly the Jade Goby can live its life out in a freshwater tank.

He has shown no signs of stopping his growth spurt.

Please note that what works for me may not work for you.
