Are jars OK with rays

It's hit or miss when it comes to Jardini's with any other fish. Depends on the individual Jar. Their personalities typically change when they reach the 10-12" mark so you will know for sure then.

I realy realy want a ray in my tank but my jardini is evil and I don't trust him , hes ok with catfish most of time but im worried about when the rays off the bottom , I can see a chunk gettin bitten off it (its an expensive mistake to make plus I don't want to kill a nice ray) , I've been told people have got them together fine depends on your jar I suppose id wait a little longer see if his aggressive behaviour calms with age , what tankmates he got now aquaman ?

+1, watch them closely. Examine the ray for the first couple weeks, I would imagine there would be signs of him getting beat up before anything tragic happened.

A place for the Ray to take shelter wouldnt hurt either, just in case he needs to hide.

If you have a very tall tank it may work but at 18-24" talk tank just won't work

You need min of 30" but even then its a big risk jars are not a fish for the mixed comm tank

Now I'm just waiting for the very small percentage of jar owners to chime in and say it all depends on the jar and they have never had any problems

But the truth is any fish you keep with a jar is always at risk they can turn on a fish in a second

I guess this is where I would come in, but I have already gave my opinions :)

Jardini are most known to go psycho in the size range of 8-14". Did you even own your jardini at that size?
