As for pond size, I'm sure you'll get a lot of different opinions on this. Me personally, I say if you want to keep koi for the long run, a bare minimum of 1500g and at least 24-30" deep. It's not like an aquarium where you can upgrade to a bigger size later, so you need to go as big as you can fit/afford from day one.
