State of chaos
Both batches of mealworms I got for my Gecko have smelled like rotten milk. Is that normal?? I have always been very sensitive to smell, so I might end up giving my Gecko crickets.

Probably the smell of whatever the store was feeding them.

Trust me, crickets smell way, way worse.. stick with mealies

Mealworms DO NOT smell, either the were fed something while they were at your LFS or there's dead ones. Simple as that.

Even crickets don't smell. It's they decaying frass and dead bodies laying around that smells and will cause maggots and etc. Pick a handful up of crickets or mealworms or superworms for that matter and smell them. They smell like an insect, they do not smell nasty.

yeah they shouldnt smell. Get the dead ones out and add new substrate. Buy more and then keep em clean and death free yourself. If you get water or too much moisture in the cups they will smell gross. Crix dont smell either, its what comes of the death and waste or whatever you are feeding them. Good luck.
