Eyy thanks for the help guys
I am not sure we have helped. Do you not know the latin name of the plant? Or you could provide a photo. Or maybe you're all set.

One of the plants I thought of as money plant, is Hydrocotyl (AKA money plant, penny wort, money wort).

I collected these in Lake Gatun Panama, it is an aquatic and semi-aquatic plant that lives in shallower areas, and along river banks.
We got plenty of it here in SW Florida, on our property and elsewhere. Its preferred locations are exactly as you describe.

I've seen those giant swaths of Hydrocotyl submerged in te Crystal River, and have always wanted an entire tank with a jungle of it.
My first experiment with the plants from Lake Gatun failed (probably not enough light).
I have just started trying them again in a 125 gal sump/refugium sitting in almost direct sun.
One of the locals brought me some cuttings from a semi aquatic area in the jungle.

this is what I think a money plant Is ^
never used a plant like that, but I have used other wild plants taken from a nearby water source which float on water similar to that^
(After cleaning and keeping in a separate bucket fer a dayor two that is)
