Hi!

One of my delhezis seems to have problem swollowing food. She chews it and then spits it out... She's getting skinnier and swims around in higher levels of the tank then usual. Im thinking of some sort of bacterial infection? I've had a couple of senegalus, and one delhezi before this one that acted the same and they ended up dead.

Any ideas of what it can be?

What are you feeding? I have not had a delzhi but I have an endlicheri which is very similar. Mine only really eats at night and eats large fish. It ate my ghost knife which was about the same length as itself! and it ate a smaller jack dempsey I had in the tank too! Sorry to hear this :(

there might be some problem, just try to observe a little more.

Im feeding carnivore pellet, cichlid gold sinking, tilapia, shirmp and pollock (no live food).

I remember my senegals got lumps/swellings on their bellies, and their eyes started popping out. Same with the delhezi that died. It hasn't gone this far with this bichir yet, but I would like to solve the problem before its to late :(

what are your water parameters?

I dont know, cuz i don't check my water parameters :banhim:But i do weekly waterchanges and have lots of platns in the tanke that will reduce the bioloads.

Im just wondering, is their a special type of water parameter thats harmfull for bichirs.

Dont get me wrong, im not talkin bout the common ones. But is it known that 2 much or 2 less of somethin that otherwise works without a problem with other fish is harmfull for bichirs?

Guys note that he has diff fish in this tank but its always the bichirs that get this problem, it has never happend 2 the other fish in the tank
