I have a couple of Salvinis and I am pretty sure that one is female and one is male. The one that I believe is a male is about 3 1/2-4 inches and the female is around 2 1/2-3 inches. The male has dug out a spot between two rocks and he's been chasing other fish away from it and acting aggressive toward the female. Are my Salvinis old enough to breed or are they bluffing? Thanks in advance--I tried to find the answer on my own and didn't come up with much information.

Yes! I have had them breed at that age a few times, and they really are't that hard to breed. You'll get them to breed soon enough, let me know if you need help. I love breeding fish...;)

We'll have to move them into their own tank then. I have read that they can get pretty nasty toward other fish when they make the beast with two backs. (you know, more nasty than usual i mean)

I agree with the above post.

They can breed at that size.

i think they will spawn but their first few times at parenting will most likley end up as falures. It takes a couple of tries at spawnig and raising the fry before they get it right but u will be a grandparent soon lol.

If some thing bad would go wrong with the spawn, make sure you have a divider close by. The male will definatly try to kill your female.
