The cup is soil in case they decide to lay eggs. The green turds were zucchini. And I do dislike the cleaning, but I've totally simplified it by keeping a scrubbie pad in the box permanently. It holds moisture and bacteria, and they actually use it like a litter box sometimes. Once, I went to clean out the box and 90% of the turds were on the scrubbie. I wonder if the texture stimulates their digestive tract or something. Anyway, the recommended gastropod set ups online are idiotic. Inches of substrate that become bogged down with incomprehensible quantities of poo. No frickin' way am I messing with that. And they are clearly doing well on plain plastic. They used to have leaves, but those fell apart after awhile. So, yeah. Minimal care for these guys seems to be more than adequate as I have yet to encounter any issues whatsoever, and the cake boxes are ridiculously easy to scrub/rinse out.
