In the first tank I would either stick with Geo's or the gymno's. The gymno's like a little cooler water and really need to have a cool down period.

The second tank I would get rid of the angels, gourami and maybe one discus. The angels will eventually get big enough to eat your cardinals anyway.

55g you might be OK but you are probably either going to need to get rid of the bleekeri or the GT. Probably not enough room for both as adults.

Your not in terrible shape if you keep un top off your water changes and cleaning.

i agree. im not familiar with the gymnos in the 120g so ill just say i concur with jgentry :D id get rid of the EBJDs just b/c they'll become more aggressive than the other fish

the 75g, take out the angles. you might wanna take out the gourami and betta

in the 55g your gonna run into problems with the GA and bleekeri together. one's gonna have to go.

personally, id put the discus in the 120g, narrow down the stock from the 120g and put them in the 75g. the orinate is gonna get huge and way to big for a 55g in a year or so

I think minus the JDs, the 120 would be fine from a stocking standpoint, but as jgentry mentioned, the discrepancy in temperature preference of the Geophagus and Gymnogeophagus is rather significant. Gymnogeophagus are temperate fish and need a cool period. Gymnogeophagus aff. gymnogenys "paso pache" are from the south of Uruguay where it gets quite cold in winter (below 50º). Geophagus prefer warm water (80-86º), and Gymnogeophagus generally below 74º with a few exceptions of northern species.

With smaller species of Geophagus like the tapajós (6-7") you could probably have 8 in the 120. With larger species like the G. surinamensis (~10") or less social species like the G. steindachneri 6 might be better.

You are lucky to have some very nice Geophagus and Gymnogeophagus species :)

I was afraid someone would tell me that the ornatipinnis would get to big for my 55....I have heard from many that 55 is absolute minimum...

Thanks for clarifying about the gymnos, I knew they liked cold temps but I wasnt sure how cold. I have a few axolotls ( aquatic salamanders that live in same low temp. and ph) If anyone knows about them do you think I could house the gymnos and axolotls in the 55?

Dude, ornates grow 18". How would a 55 be the minimum? I say a 125 is a minimum for ornates... They also get hella fat.

Very nice tank! I think the 120 is hella overstocked though.

clean dem 8itches and plenty of water changes. i would upgrade. but thats just my opinion
