?????? Are My Tanks Overcrowded ??????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I believe so If anything the ebjd might have to be separated eventually

Hi... Yes I feel your tanks are overstocked. if youir plan is a long term combo.. Sounds like you want to keep the 75 for the discus and the 120 for geos sooo.
I would keep the 75 with just the discus, rams, cardinals and then pick among the plecos for one and maybe leave the cories.. The plecos are big poop machines and the tank as is seems way overstocked . IMO, with discus the fewer other fish the better both as to stress levels and water quality. How large are your discus and how long have you had this combo?? I have had discus and angel together but in a 120 gallon tank with fewer tankmates... usually I suggest 10-12 gallons per adult discus and if the 2 angels pair the tank could be very stressful to the discus..

As to the 120... if you keep it a geo tank with the numbers suggested by Ed and remove the gymnos because of the temp issue, a lot would depend on the temperments of the ebjd.. I hear as they age they get very similiar to the regular jd but I've never kept any... Nor have I kept an ornate so I can't help you there.. In my 120 I have a geo orangehead/angel/lemon tetra combo and am loving it.. HTH Sue:D

Ive had all fish in the discus tank for a little over a year. As for size they are all about 5" except 2 turquoise that havent grown AT ALL. All of the discus that I have purchased before and after them have doubled in size but the turqs are still only about 3 in. I already moved the angels out of there and to my geo tank.
