Are Pleco Realy useful ?

Just for fun I bought a 4" Bristle nose for my ten gallon.... it's been three weeks so far and she hasn't done anything. The back side of the ten G is covered in algae... Now I bought a 6" common pleco and put it in my 55G.... Wow it's spotless ... I even put my 9x9 algae scrubber in the open for him to nibble on... 1 1/2 days and the screen is almost completely white... So far the Bristle nose is not a good house keeper... :)

In my experience they poop more than they clean. Although they can be extremely helpful with cleaning the hard to reach places and they are great to eat leftover food. But mine are common plecos and are usually big and messy rather than algae eaters for the most part. Still a beautiful fish!
