The answer is sort of. Many species do well with or without a lot of current.
I agree, go to planetcatfish or scotcat, and see what the species you want require for current and PH levels. I know of a few species that like slow moving waters only or that want high current all the time.
Granted, most plecos available in the trade will do fine in most aquariums as long as the PH levels are fine and the water quality is good irregardless of water movement.
