Are plecos sensitive to current?

I could swear i read some species do live in rivers and streams with a strong current. Check with Planetcatfish or scotcat on the species that interest you.

I would imagine that nearly all pleco's lived in moving water since they are primarily found in the rivers of the amazon. By looking at their body shape you can judge how much current they require. Slim and streamlined would indicate fast slow, bulky and big would indicate less.

The answer is sort of. Many species do well with or without a lot of current.

I agree, go to planetcatfish or scotcat, and see what the species you want require for current and PH levels. I know of a few species that like slow moving waters only or that want high current all the time.

Granted, most plecos available in the trade will do fine in most aquariums as long as the PH levels are fine and the water quality is good irregardless of water movement.

Some like current, some don't. Bristlenose are actualy known to accidentally crawl up into the filter while hanging out in the current of the filter outflow.

Some ( GOLD Nuggets, assoc. species ) come from shallower, faster moving streams
that don't have as much woody material and subsist on algae, plant material and aufwuchs (possible spelling) that they scrape off the rocks on the stream bed. These can stand more current and oxygenation.
