Are polys eyesight really that bad?

My lap has these mood swings... sometimes he comes upto the glass other time he just darts away to his spot when i approach... guess it is to do with the vibrations after all... prolly sensing the kinda vibrations we emit.. who knows

My ft long endli smells krill and cruises the surface till he bumps into them. Light or people don't bother him at all. He is seldom hidden. When he does hide, he is in a PVC tube with his head hanging out, but is quick to come out when people are around. There are plants rocks and driftwood all over and he tends to lay on top of stuff. Sometimes he just sits in water streams from powerheads and filters. He shares a 220 with a 6" IT dat, 1' red bally pacu, a plec and 2 black angelfish.

my 7" senegal comes out and greets me and begs for food when i come in th room he will also eat from the top of the water. seems very active for a poly and quite tame as it will hand feed

That's strange - my poly comes right to the glass when I enter the room - he/she definitely knows the sound of the shaking food can.
