I’ve been reading mixed opinions lately about pond aerators and wanted to hear what experienced keepers here think. Some people say a strong filter return and surface agitation are enough, while others recommend dedicated aeration year round, especially during warmer months. I keep seeing discussions about oxygen levels affecting fish activity and overall water stability, particularly in deeper ponds or heavily stocked systems. For those of you running koi or monster fish ponds outdoors, did adding extra aeration actually make a noticeable difference?
I was comparing a few different pond aerators recently while researching upgrades for my setup:

Not trying to buy blindly from ads, so I’d rather hear real-world experiences first. Do you think bottom diffusers, air stones, or floating systems work best long term? Also curious if anyone noticed improvements in algae control or fish behavior after increasing aeration.
