are red devils hard to breed? im planning on buying a male and a femal red devil so they can mate and make me some BABIES!

Nope, not at all. Just make sure your tank is around 120g and give the female places to hide where the male can't fit into. Some people use dividers, but honestly I use decca pots with some having openings just large enough for the female to go into and one large one that they both can fit in. In my current set up I have 3 smaller pots just for her so she can't get blocked off from cover and 1 huge pot for him/them. Here is a Video of my set up with my F1 Midas pair. In 8yrs I have never had a female beaten to death and the males always have had aggression at a minimum. Minute the male gets abit too ruff in the female goes until he settles down. Seems to keep the males aggression down.

they are pretty easy to breed. the hard part is getting a pair and having nothing else in your tank since they'll all end up dead

My 6 inch red devil that I just traded into the LFS today laid eggs on her own in a 35 gallon octagon tank (I had to put her in there or she would kill my new chocolate cichlid). She wasted no time in digging all the way to the bottom of the tank and I woke up the next morning and watched her lay atleast 300 eggs on the glass bottom of the tank. I wish I had the space and a male to go with her to see what would have happened, but she had to go

Just maintain your water chemistry, regular water changes, and feed them quality food. In a matter of months they will start breeding. I have heard red devils breeding between 3-5 inches. I have had mine for a year where the female was about 4" and the male at 6". I did the regular water changes and maintained water chemistry and one day saw eggs laid on a cleaned slate. Good luck!
