Nope, not at all. Just make sure your tank is around 120g and give the female places to hide where the male can't fit into. Some people use dividers, but honestly I use decca pots with some having openings just large enough for the female to go into and one large one that they both can fit in. In my current set up I have 3 smaller pots just for her so she can't get blocked off from cover and 1 huge pot for him/them. Here is a Video of my set up with my F1 Midas pair. In 8yrs I have never had a female beaten to death and the males always have had aggression at a minimum. Minute the male gets abit too ruff in the female goes until he settles down. Seems to keep the males aggression down.
