I wouldn't reccomend it right now because from your other thread it seems like the pond isn't quite finished yet, and you still don't know how to heat it. They grow really fast and it would be best to have the tank already set up so it doesn't have to be in a small tank longer then necessary.
But once you have the resources by all means go for the rtc That is a nice sized pond and would be better than the fish ending up in a 55 or something for life.
It will most likely be the end of summer they will be moved into the pond. My parents agreed to let me put a heater on it as long as I pay for half of the cost to run it. And I also have to let my dad go fishing in the pond, so he says lol (in his dreams maybe)
It'll probably be built around the end of July or so. I still have school to go to and then mission trips with church to go on. After that I'll finish it, and I'll probably start working on it as soon as I have the materials to get it done sooner
I'll just wait to buy one until I'm 100% positive that it'll be done then. That way I don't have a 4 foot monster in a 7 foot long tank with an arowana in it's belly lol
the RTC can be wierd with agression, i kept mine with tetras for the first few weeks, it would demoplish feeder gold fish but never botherd the tetras which is really wierd cause they're a natural prey item. put my rtc in with my roomates chilids while i cleaned the other tanks, and it was a total blood bath (the rtc can literally eat itself to death). then he ended up in my native tank and is best buds with one of the small mouth bass. cant explain it
Please read th RTC sticky I wrote. As for growth, with good water and feeding somewhat heavily (2-3x/day), they will grow an inch a WEEK. This will "slow down" after the first couple months and go to 1-2" growth per month. They can hit 24" the first year. If you drop the temps to 76-78* they will slow down in growth substantially. Also, once they hit 12", only feed once a day at most. Mine only gets fed every 2-3 days now.
