Are saltwater fish safe to feed to large fresh water fish or should only freshwater fish be fed to saltwater fish? I wanted to use Hakari frozen silversides. This is actually for an alligator snapping turtle but since fish would seem to be more sensitive, I would believe that if it was bad for fish it probably wouldn't be the best for the AST.

Thanks

Some have fed cut pieces of frozen fillet of Saltwater species without issues but I wouldn't feed fresh.

It will be fine. In fact many people choose SW fish to feed to FW, as they typically have different parasites/nematodes etc, that will not affect FW fish in the same manner as they would SW.

I'll throw my pebble after RD.'s rock.

I feed hundreds of my FW fish species with salt water fish that I catch and freeze myself. Done it for 6 years. Many of my fish are strict piscivores, not even taking pellets. I don't think I saw any deleterious effects.
