Are scientist color blind?

It seems they use 'blue' in gardening/flower colors, I rarely see blue coloring on plants or flowers marked as 'blue'. They always look purple to me.
 
Because literal doesn't sound as pretty. Same reason dogs and horses are called blue or red when they are just grey or just reddish brown looking.
