Are they they the same thing in the FH realm? I may purchase, what I thought is a bonsai, but it is labeled short body. Though it matters none to me. I kinda dig the little fella.

Im going to disagree just for the sake of a decent topic.
I believe SBFH's can get pretty big while Quality Bonsias have a distinct head shape thats more parrot-esk. Plus they stay rather small.
Bonsai or Kirin are shorter and more parrot ball like. SBFH have been bred to have short bodies while Bonsai's are a FH-parrot hybrid(if you will)
Does anybody else agree with that classification?
That bonsai is a type of SBFH? If not, it should be because theres a big difference between a SBFH and a real thai Bonsai
If my theory is correct, thats a SBFH ZZ you got there. Very nice, Well worth $100

Does anybody else agree with that classification?

Yes.

I've also seen some decent sized adult SBFH, where bonsai stay smaller, and like you stated are more parrot like.

Nope, I would not agree by it. Short body is just more of a translation term for the FH word. Bonsai, means short in another language. :)

It may just boil down to the different strains, those with more parrot blood remain smaller, those with less parrot blood grow larger. When it comes to most hybrid strains, only the breeders know what genetics are at play, and even then there's a lot of guess work involved.

There is way more to that, and checking up on your resource may help you understand a bit more. In the flowerhorn world, there are 2 different type of words that we use. The english translation, and the other language. Example...Kamalau, Kamfa, Bonsai etc etc. They are all real words existing into naming the flowerhorns in another language.

wow...I've got so much to learn. I am still struggling with differentiating the Kamalau from the Kamfa from the King Kamfa, ZZ....But I am really curious as now I have one. And I really enjoy him.
