are snails beneficial to a tank?

my GF loves snails for some reason so i was just wondering how beneficial it would be to have them in a tank... some advice on wat the eat.... etc

i have 2 oscars and a bocourti and a BN in a 125g tank
would they eat the snails? if not please share with me names of some snails that get pretty big

i honestly never really liked snails but the more i look at them the more they grow on me lol so please if u dont mind pst some pros and cons on having them in ur tank
