are snails beneficial to a tank?

yeah iv kept tons with salt in my tank and they did fine

Most snails you buy are captive bred. They have no more diseases than fish you buy. Unless they are not properly cared for.

To answer the original question; snails are pretty entertaining to watch and clean the tank very well. They clean the glass beautifully and eat any food left on the tank bottom.

Bad bacteria responsible for bacterial infections will always exist. Only through untreated injuries and organ damage will they set in fast on your fish.
