He just thinks it is illegal to put any electrical cord under water. I just wanted to show him something so he doesn't worry. I have found all that stuff stated above in various places, just nothing that emphasizes on how the cord and connection is kept "waterproof"
 
every quality brand heater has defective units floating around somewhere, whether you get one or not is a strock of luck.

be smart and stay ahead of the game.

always test you equipment before putting it into service. regardless of how many good things or few bad things you hear about a product.
 
Look for a UL-Listed marking. Underwriters Laboratories will test the safety of a product thoroughly before giving it their stamp of approval. With some searching you could probably find the report.
 
I've had an aquarium for around 16-17 years and I've never had anything other than a FULLY submersible heater....

tell him to go change his depends and get with technology.
