Are stealth heaters safe....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have about 5 stealth heaters running right now. I had a problem with one but only after the puppy I was sitting chewed on the cord. Got 1 of my light fixtures too.

The stealth is not even made of glass like most submersible heaters. (which I have broken my fair share of)
I like them for their toughness. I only wish they had an "on" light like most others.

Like any mass produced consumer item they have just as much chance to fail as anything else of similar design by other makers. Nothing's perfect.
That's all I use, and having had 2 with problems (freely replaced by Marineland), not once was it an issue of being shocked.
Could it happen ? Yeah, I supppose it could, with anything.

The proof is in the puddin'

Stealth is actually more safe, IMO, because my bastard oscar can't break it.

Look for a UL-Listed marking. Underwriters Laboratories will test the safety of a product thoroughly before giving it their stamp of approval. With some searching you could probably find the report.

:iagree:

It is UL listed.

As Alton Brown has said, they have never given their approval to any turkey fryer. :)
