JD would need at least a 45 gallon. You can get:
Blue-Eye Cichlid (4.5") Cichlasoma spilurum
Keyhole Cichlid (4") Cleithracara maronii
Rams (3") Microgeophagus ramirezi

Maybe a Discus or Angels pair

I would get a pair of Five-Star Generals (Hemichromus elongatus). Yeah, they aren't CA or SA, but they look awesome, are extraordinarily aggressive and outgoing, and grow to about 5-6 inches! Try google images for pics.

i would also like to keep a couple a little fish with them, so i dont want any thing very aggressive, ( attitude of a nice severum)

Hi Ryan !

Here's a few for you !

Blue Acara Cichlid , south america male 6" female 4.5".
Chequerboard Cichlid ( crenicara filamentosa ), south america male 3" female 2.5"
Geophagus , south america male 6" female 6"
Ruby Cichlid , south america male 3" female 2.5"
Festivum , south america male5/6" female 5/6"

this is just a couple of south american species i found for you !

have you looked into apistogrammas? they are extremely colorful and small cichlids. I have also recently discovered honduran redpoints- a sort of convict but very pretty- metallic blue.

Thanks guys, ill look into them, but i have decided to keep my jade eyes for a bit as they are trying to lay eggs at the mo.......:grinyes:

if your looking for a cool fish to put in that tank try a Panamensis. They stay relatively small at about 6 inches and they are very cool fish. Jeff has some now that are 1.5 inches and they are great fish.

My JD is pretty active and would be terribly unhappy in a thirty gal tank. I agree that you'd need at least a 45 gal. There are other options as everyone else has informed you. Good luck and you'll have to let us know what you've decided upon! Pics after the fact of coarse!!!!
