are there blue gene gold jack dempseys?

i will most certainly follow that thread and see whats up.
 
My guess is that gold is epistatic to blue if they are two unliked genes - gold is a structural gene in the pigment synthetic pathway, whereas blue is a regulatory gene that determines the distribution of the pigment. If this is the case, F2 individuals will be phenotypically 1/4 gold, 3/16 EBJDs, and the rest wt (regular).

But who knows....get to work Joey! :D
 
I am thoroughly convinced that any fish that is "both Blue and Gold'... will have the blue washed out by the gold (leucistism)

By nature Leucism "turns off" the color producing genes... so even if they are geneticly mutated to produce Blue... the Leucism will turn off those mutated genes...

But my thoughts are simply theory... let's see what JT comes up with...
 
I'll use discus as an example, when Kitti developed the pigeonblood discus, yellow base color as opposed to the brown wild type and crossed them with other discus, the yellow gene proved to be dominate, it also tended to mute blue color and they appeared white, which worked out as now we have solid white discus which look cool, may end up with white JD! I have sold a lot of gold JD to people who planned to cross them with their EBJD so in time we will see the results. Ken
