Are these 2 fading?

I'd say the female Is for sure fading but idk about the male. If he is it's hard to tell. But yeah seems like they are a bit of late bloomers and fading at a bit of a larger size then what mine did. Mine faded at around 2in and some as small as .5in (mainly runts). But yeah I'd say for sure the female is fading, looks like she might end up like my old female I had about a year ago just with better pearling then mine had. Here's a pic of how she turned out as an adult btw.

I still think its a male not 100%
Just wait till they both grow upto 4in and then take em out and vent em to be safe. It's the only sure fire way to figure out a fishes gender. To me it looks like it's a male and female pair but I could always be wrong lol. I've learned the hard way not to judge a fish's gender based on looks alone.

It's natural for fader's to fluctuate in colors/pattern. They will continue to do so untill they reach adulthood, 8in roughly. Even once they're adults they can still change color depending on mood/stress.
