are these chichlids rare?

If they are convicts, there are probably a thousand of them considering the breed like little bunnies.
 
i would check your local fishing, guide if they are there because someone released them then theres a problem...you dont want them to wipe out ur native fish population.
 
I think you just found a wonderful lake if it is filled with cichlids you can catch.
As long as it's not a lake in you neighbors back lawn

But if they are what you say they are there not native to australia and you should infact report them to your local fish & wildlife authoritys

i find it very hard to believe you caught all these different cichlids which aren't native in a lake, if it was a small dam maybe but if its a huge lake i highly doubt it! The only one you may catch is a tilapia but even that would be rare!

Whats the name of the "lake" and how big is it?
