Are these levels ok?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Did a water change before class
Here are the levels now:
Nitrate-0
Nitrite-0
Hardness- 25
Alkalinity-80
PH- 7.8
Ammonia- .5

Hope these are better.

Working on getting a medical exception for the 46g in my dorm. I'll find out for sure on either Wednesday or Thursday..

Wow, that would be really cool. I can't really see much chance of that happening though, sorry to say.

You don't see me getting the medical exception?

You highly underestimate my abilities. :) I am very good with wording on that sort of thing. It's how I get take home exams in all of my classes. :) And professor notes. :)

As for the levels- Are these good or bad?

I can understand that cleaning the filter would set back a cycle but that's about it. You can't honestly say a tiny 10 gallon tank is capable of holding the bio load from 3 GSPs....... Just my $.02

Yes, a ten gallon can handle a trio of juvie puffers as long as it's run correctly. I used 10 gallon tanks as grow outs for years while raising GSPs.

That's too bad. Because basically that 10 gallon is a death sentence for those poor fish. They will either die out of aggression or Nitrite/Ammonia, either way this can VERY EASILY be avoided.

Death sentence? Hardly. Keep your posts to helpful ones.

Nirite and nitrate being zero means you've started to cycle the tank all over again.

Is that bad?

Means you're going to have continue with those daily WC.

I will continue them. Can anyone tell me what the levels should look like to be considered good?

Ammonia/nitrite 0, nitrate <20 (A cycled tank will show some nitrate).

So - playing devils advocate - if lots of water cahnges set you back to the start of the cycle, and you WANT the tank to cycle, why might one suggest to keep doing the water changes instead of letting the cycle happen?
