Are these lights ok?

Wolf - The last link you provided is for a 24in fixture. You'll prob want a 30in fixture to fit on your 29gal tank. Granted the bulbs will still only be 24in, but the fixture would at least fit.

I can't say I've seen the Hagen Glo fixtures on the more common retailers (Drs F&S, petsolutions, big als) but I did find them here:

I have them on 2 of my tanks, and I'm quite impressed with them already. I actually found mine at a LFS, and it was surprisingly cheaper than online pricing.

Where can i find them? Do they have them on any of these websites? I am a huge noob at planted tanks! Are there any HO T5 lights on these websites? Whats HO stand for?

or where to find them!
HO stands for high output. They should be available on many of the online sites now. Just search for Glo T5. These lights cost much less than the T12 options.

Yep, the hagen Glo HO T5 does not come in a 30" fixture, however, the 24" fixture will fit. Hagen is giving a better deal to the private LFS/LPS I believe, as the price in the private sector is much cheaper than at Petsmart.

which of these 2 lights be better for a 29gallon typical planted tank without CO2?? Dont want to over power and then fight algae.. and dont want to buy another whole light unit..

Bulb1

Bulb2

You will have a better response to your question if you create a new thread. They are basically the same lamp. The T-5 will only work with a t-5 ballast and socket configuration.

Fixture is OK but would be better to go with the 6700k lamp(works best for plants), I believe the colormax is 5000k. Coralife also make a double lamp t-5 fixture that you can get the colormax lamp and a 6700k lamp.

6700k lamp

picked it up today! tank substrate has been swapped plants planted, java ferns rubberbanded to driftwood. now there is nothing except a heater and filter made of plastic in there!:naughty:
