Given the general public's love of buying destructive, invasive species as pets, getting bored of them and then dumping them into the nearest stream or park...We're lucky to be allowed to keep ANYTHING without permits and inspections.A permit....ridiculous! Not half as bad as a bighead othough. They'll swim through the ground, burst up through your basement, and pommel you to death by repeatedly jumping into your chest.
Can someone explain why delicate piranha are illegal, while goldfish, which are tougher than almost anything are legal in all 50 states?
These laws do not seem to make a lot of sense in general.
That doesn't mean it makes sense.How many scary goldfish movies are there? I bet a local politician saw the film piranha 30 yrs ago and decided he wouldn't take a chance.
