Are these rays really the same species?

The only true way to ID a retic is by the size of the flap on the side of it's tail. Markings vary so much that they cannot be used to ID. I think he is awesome looking and think he should be in your tank already. A fat retic at that size with those markings is rare.

You are absolutely right. I've been fighting it all week but I'm going to get it. I'll try to negotiate a bit first, but its coming home. Do I need to be concerned about having two males?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but if I had to rehome one then I think I would choose to keep the new ray! How bizarre!
