are these real ST or not?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've been told by a Dat vendor bIn bangkok who has caught and sold dats for decades not to trust ANY small pulcher sales because it is all a big lie.
Based on his advice, not they're are not pulcher if that is a recent photo.

they are indeed recent photos, but I would like to know more if those are not ST/pulchers, such as body stripes for example. It would be nice if you could explain it a bit more. Because I believe there are way more than just 1 vendor who could ship ST overseas. And after all, they are just for business purposes for those who wants to rip off others.

It's not the vendor on his own but the place his shop is. It's in Chatuchak market, possibly the biggest aquarium market in the world. He gave me the information based on what's happening there. He caught and sold ST when they were still in Thailand. I agree with you though, there is more than one catcher and exporter of any given fish. There are also a lot more buyer markets than overseas. In SEA for example, quality fish trade for massive money. If fish, specifically pulcher, are caught in Cambodia, or Vietnam, why bother with the hassle and cost of exporting overseas, when you can sell them in a neighboring country for just as much.
Can i ask you where you are?

I haven't bought the fish just yet, so it would be good to know more about this fish if you could explain the difference. I've seen 3 bars IT which look just like ST, and also I've heard there are several people who mistakenly bought ST, for which actually the fish they bought was just IT. I am from Indo, and the fish is so rare here. And definitely, no one here is able to tell the difference. So I am hoping for those of you who has experiences with this fish able to tell me which is which..
There are several importers here who are able to import rare fishes from overseas, but just because such a species is rare, it doesn't mean that it is not possible to own, even in here.

I'm not an expert on telling quality 3 bar indo and pulcher apart TBH, i'm not expert at anything in particular either. With the whole argument of real or not that has raged for the last 12 months i just follow the logic.

Get some clearer picture of both fish, showing both sides and "the experts" will tell you, i know nowadays it's not just about the "3 bars". The head shape for example, those fish in the pictures look like they have the head shape of Indo. they also look like they have 2 tail bars, which is also indicative of indo.........
For me based on logic, what i'm told by people in the know, (which is the same information i'm giving you) and what little i do know about the species, i think they're not real.

I give up trying to differentiate the 2, I say the only way we're gonna be aable to tell if all the new CT/VT are really pulcher or indo is dna testing

ok thanks for the input, I'll try to get more better pics from the supplier.
cheers

hose that I posted earlier may look like the CT's pics posted by T1KARMANN.

They must be then. Just be aware the same type of fish has been turning up in the US, and on here. One thread with them for sale was deleted recently, i presume because of the Pulcher lable. They started off at about 650 dollars, but i believe they're going for about 450 now.
Enjoy your pulchers.

Who cares. Im tired of this whole ST/CT/VT debate. If it looks like a true d pulcher then great! Dont make a big deal of it, keep prices affordable so true hobyists can enjoy them, and keep the fish from going extinct in the wild. This back and forth with the prestige of the ST and how all others dont compare is a significant contributing factor to its not exsistence in the wild.
