Had both of them together for about a year now. This morning found the driftwood flipped over and the black male and albino bristlenose fighting. I broke them up with the net handle but came back and they were at it again. Tbh this is the second species of Pleco that I've ever kept. Had 2 Marbled Sailfin years ago and no fighting issues.
Are they fighting over the driftwood?

I've kept plecos a long time but wouldn't call myself an expert. Looks like what I've seen before when they're fussing over a spot both fish like. Ime it often gets resolved, especially if there are alternatives to just the one spot, but some may simply skirmish every so often. At least for me it's never been serious, though with certain pleco species I think can be if it's too small a tank without much territory to go around.
When you say the male was under the driftwood does this mean you are assuming the other one is female?
To me this looks like two males.
They also look like two males to me.
I do have two males in each of two different tanks. They defend areas as well as show territorial behavious when feeding, but I don't see them actively fighting.

You have a developing male albino trying to assert his dominance over a dominant brown.
Depending on the tank size you could add a further cave or two and three females or alternatively, and potentially a better option, exchange either male for a female or two.

Had the same issues with these 2 guys in a 55gal, they seem to just want to be where the other male is regardless of all the rest of the tank. I added more options to their go to spots to help the aggressiveness out. They will still "brawl" occasionally but its quickly sorted within injurys now.
