I have one FX5 being shipped to me at the moment. I'm wondering if I should buy one more? Next week I will hook up the FX5 with my two AC110s. Would adding another FX5 be overkill for a 125? Let me know.

Thanks,

It depends on the stocking. I would say that the FX5 and two AC110s would be enough. I have a 100 gallon which currently have an FX5, 2 AC110, and a 30 gallon wet dry. I have a total of 8 fish in it, one of which is very sensitive. I also do 50-60% water changes every week.

Unfortunately my 125 is overstocked. I'm trying to get money for a bigger tank, so my wife doesn't gripe about what I'm spending. I sold a 75 gallon to raise a bit of cash. Some of those fish that were in the 75 are now in the 125. They all seem happy, but I have been doing 2 water changes a week.

I posted almost the same question last week. Most of the responses were that I didnt need two fx5 on my 180, well I am running 2 fx5's 1 cascade 1500 and a ac110. My tank this last week has looked better then ever. I think if you have the money and will someday get a bigger tank then go for it.

No I'm getting ready to put my third FX5 on a tank this weekend. plus two Huge sponge filters.

I say go for it since you will be getting a bigger tank anyways. Plus like what dog said, your water will be crystal bling bling clear.

Believe it or not, I was only running AC110s on it. Weekly water tests were fine, but I still performed a 50% water change. I noticed that after adding a few extra fish that my levels changed dramatically. I now perform a 70% water change 2 times a week. The first FX5 will be here on Tuesday. That will give me a bit more clarity, but I'm thinking 2 FX5s with 2 AC110s would make my life much easier.

considering that you have an over stocked tank, it would'nt hurt. you can never have too much.

If you are going to upgrade, you should.
