Yep, you're right. I hate to rain on your parade but that's most likely what he's doing. I raised plenty of mallards over the years and they like their food on the soggy side. When I would feed them ground up pellets, they would take a beak-full and walk over to their water dish, dip it in and kind of chew it under the water to get it nice and moist. Boy were they ever messy.

I think you're better off training a bird with intelligence like a parrot to do that. Heck, you can teach them to ride a bike!

The birds would wind up as a fluffy snack for your 3ft cat.
