im a dog person just becuase ive tried the indoor cat thing a few times and i feel i have to baby sit the cat. the dogs just follow me or sit in my lap and if i get up they get up and shadow me. while the cat is in the other side of the house peeking out through a hallway to see if i noticed he knocked down the christmas tree. evil!

but if it was upto me i would have an indoor cat. im acutally looking for one just havent decided on what breed.

I have 2 cats (one of them for 11 years now), but I'd have to say dog. Over time, I developed an allergy to cats, but that really doesn't affect my choice much. I just got an Australian Shepherd this summer. She is by FAR the smartest dog I've ever had.

Cats are cool but ours whines so much and then turns and scratches you. it was a hard choice but i said dogs, sorry camshaft

It kinda depends on the breed of dog. If it was a good ol' working dog, I'd choose it over a cat any day. However, I'd much rather have a cat over some poofy little lapdog, like a poodle or chihuahua. Ultimately, I'd much rather describe myself as a dog person.

I like cats, but if I had to choose I'd take a dog any day.

Why? My dogs
-do not drool
-like to watch my fish (one of the two that is)
-do not poop/pee in the house...nor spit up hairballs
-do not dig in the yard
-are able to entertain themselves or snuggle up with me
-do not destroy things other than their toys
-do not jump up onto everything like a cat, even furniture (unless invited)
-clean up the house for me (pick up stray paper or clothing and deliver it to hand) on command

But then I have two young (1.5-2 yr old) drivey/working dogs that get a lot of training and activity every day. Without my giving them things to think about and do, they would devise their own amusement which would probably not go so well for me, lol.
