As a tangent from esoxlucius ' thread No wonder I'm a cat man!, here is the pertinent poll.

I know everyone here is a fish person, but apart from this are you cat person or a dog person? No other options.

I think a dog could offer more than a cat if I could meet its needs but it seems due to circumstances I'm destined for cats.

There seems to be a problem here (Leeds, England) with people wanting kittens and puppies but not wanting the cats and dogs they quickly turn into. People have actually said this to me.

I have 3 cats coming round at the moment that were abandoned, thin and desperate. They sleep in cat shelters in the garden. I have also had 3 previously for their full lives. All lovely animals with individual characters.

I've had dogs now for about 20 years and grew up with cats as my mum likes them and still has a cat
Easy vote for me as dogs all day they are better than people and the older I get the more I like spending my time with my dogs rather than people in work etc
I'm going on holiday on Friday and I hate the thought of leaving my digs behind for a week!
I couldnt imagine anyone choosing to keep a cat over a dog but not everyone is sensible!
