Tia a shame the pantaniero cudas died. Convinced a buddy to get one (mainly to save me shipping costs) and he absolutely loves it. Have a video of it feeding actually I'll ask him permission before I post

Would love to see that vid!! Haven't finalized a replacement order yet... lol

Sub tropical fish are tough, but that's extreme. Wes did a good job packing them, but dang, that's a long time. I haven't used the breathing bags by Kordon. Sounds like temperatures got them though. Cold dead fish don't use too much oxygen. On the bright side, at least 2 lived. Ken's told me that he's broken through the ice before collecting fish down there when I was making plans to go with him. Sick grandfather kept me from going this time. But he's by far more important to me than any fish around. I'll be going next trip. Maybe in the fall from what Kensington told me. Good luck. Sounds like you've found my wife's sister to acclimate your fish! Lol

Here's a few snaps of it. He uses a kind of cheap light (that's why it looks a bit washed out and orange) so it won't grow much algae so he won't make the scomb in there skittish and bash its head on a wall of glassImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1426106872.199988.jpgImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1426106905.718428.jpg he said this guy is basically a upgrade from his other acestrochynus feeds more aggressively and has nice teeth. This guy is from the batch of 2-3 inchers wes had. He has rosies in there to eventually get him used to orange and get him on krill

Not only did 2 live, but the 2 most import to me lived.... Couldn't be happier from a silver lining aspect.

Would your wife's sister handle morays? Angry 1.5' disked Potomotrygons? Lion, or stone fish? Been bit by a wolf? Aquired your most sought after species of Goonch for a bday present completely behind your back??? lol..... I think I found a special custom one of a kind..... lol

I guess I had no idea it was even possible to get cold enough in their natural habitats to allow them to deal with such cold temps. I knew 60s could be tolerated, as my Falkneri are from pretty far down south, but had no idea surviving barely above freezing was possible to survive for fish that seem so small and fragile.

Gets pretty cool for sure. He wasn't kidding me about the ice. I found it unbelievable also. Never known him to exaggerate at all. My wife wouldn't do all of that unless there was no way around it. I've shown her and my teenage daughters the proper way to handle most everything the best I could. Don't get me wrong, they've still got that " Oh, that nasty or I'm not touching that for anything!" Mentality. Lol. Still ,if they knew that I was counting on them, they'd sure try. At least I'd like to think that. Sounds like you have a one of a kind on your hands! She sounds like a great help and is definitely more willing to help than my 3. I've had guys I knew that were scared to mess with stuff that they had helped me with before. Kinda like jumping off the high dive, you can see someone else do it all day, but until you've done it yourself, you're still scared. Just takes practice and swallowing your fear. All of mine will help me with toothy critters, but are still scared of spiders. Lol. My oldest daughter would jump off a building to get away from a dadgum stinkbug. You're a lucky fellow. I remember getting some FW Barracuda in the late 80's and early to mid 1990's that looked just like those in the picture. Had a school of a dozen individuals in a 5' 110 gallon aquarium once. Pretty neat little monsters. The Japanese perch species that Wes seems to like so much, I've had about 4-6 different types of them. Of course not knowing what they were back then and how rare they are/were. The only one I haven't kept in the past ,is the extremely elongated one. Whatever it's called. Ah, the good ol' days. I remember buying a Pseudopimlodus fowleri/ or the other one that's so expensive and sought after for 6-$8.00 once in the early 1990's that was about 6-8" long. Without the internet, alot of the times you'd just have to make an educated guess on what it was. Same for the perches. Lol. Thanks for letting me ramble. Good luck, friend.
