get ready to see the FL gars go back on live for one last time...
this is a risky combo at best for the hujeta gar. instinct inevitably wins out in these situations, just a forewarning--

Predation :headbang2

Just to be on the optimistic side... I kept a decent sized Florida Gar with some "needlenose gar" (xarin charchin or something er rather) for about 4 years with no issues. So you never know... the good thing is that True Gar will prevail no matter what, so at worst case you still win.

Lol I figured it would end up bad if the Floridas got hungry. It was just a temporary while we got the other 55gal set up. So now the hujeta is back safe and sound in a 55 gal. Maybe I'll try again when he gets a little bigger :D

I have just the pic for you that you will like I hope

I got the 3 rocket as a rehome from a tank I bought, so they were basically free. So far they have been in with the bigger gar for 2-3 mths and still alive, but I keep them fed on a regular diet of easier to catch minnows.

Haha yeah I do like that picture. They just school together lol. They think they're the same thing. It's just my FL's are about 14" and the hujeta is about 6" so a big size difference

Rocket gars have the same temp range as regular gars?

nope, gars can take the warmer temps, but "rocket gars" are tropical fish, so they can't go as cold as Lepisosteids can--

...if the FL gars are kept very well fed the smaller fish might make it for a while, but this is a risky combo at best for the hujeta gar. instinct inevitably wins out in these situations, just a forewarning--

lol :grinno:
