Anyone know might have these currently available?...I'm having a hard time finding them.

Aquascapeonline has them right now.

Kinda funny this thread popped up, I've been struggling with myself for the last 2 days... we're in the process of moving so I'm breaking things down. Anyhow, my lfs actually got some in and they're only 8 bucks each, this is why I'm struggling lol.

Just a heads up, if your tank is less than 200 gallons, with normal pumpage (1000gph or less) and you get an argentea, you should expect that once it reaches its stride, at about 6-8" it will kill all other cichlids in your tank (especially the large ones), and after they are gone, any other fish of size.
I have kept around 15 argentea over the last 2 decades, they are one of my favorite species. At full potential one of the most beautiful, and have all been lethal.
Kept alone, great, in a community in any normal sized aquaria,150 or less, and without a very strong current to distract, very dangerous.

All of this is why I'm struggling. I have a 210 with a 75 gallon sump. Since its torn down I won't be doing it, but for future reference i believe I have sufficient flow with an 1800gph mag drive in the sump, and 2 3600gph circulation pumps on a controller. Oh and it runs 2 ac110 as well. So current has never been an issue in that tank... think this set up would suffice?

What's their growth rate like for you? Mine grow very slow, and everybody else seems to agree. I'd be very curious to know how they've grown for you over the years.

Mine don't fight much at all, but when they do, I'd agree their violence is very "over the top". Mine are in a very large tank with bigger fish, but if they were still in my 125, they'd probably kill anything I put with them.

I had an alpha male go from about 1" to 7 or 8" in 1 year, but most grew much slower. Might be because the alpha kept them down, and eventually killed all others, and a few Parachromis along the way.
They were fine with other fish that weren't cichlids, or silver. Dithers like smallish fast tetras (even some live bearers) were ignored.
Large tank size is the key, and observation, although, once it starts (and overnight at that) the carnage is fast and furious.

What you are saying is not always true I have a 13" plus male in a 155g with 4 5" melanurus a 7" pair of Nic and a 12.5" male syn and they are all doing fine.

It's going to be just a single or pair in tank...so no others to worry about.
