Hey all first post in a couple years. I do not remember my old screen name... anyway life gets in the way sometimes. My aro jumped out (broke glass top), both armatus gave themselves concussions,
All went down hill from there.
I never had any RBPs cause they aren't legal in FL :) or a black one either.

My peacock mantis shrimp committed suicide about 5 years ago which had me so depressed I sold all my salt.

Anyway, going to set up my 96x32x32 glass again. Only serious this time!

First it will be stocked with 50 or so guppies and I am actually going to try and house some live plants (moss, etc). Whatever I can possibly set up without a huge mess.

Refreshing memories..... if I go with an ATF this time around he will be added first for growth rate, followed by aro (silver or black undecided) and 2 armatus and a common wolf. I am concerned for the wolf's aggression though. I had one a couple decades ago until my heater fried him. He was stunning and huge (solo occupant of tank).
Probably an exotic pleco of some type and a couple smaller cats. Ultimately I would love to have a bunch of neon tetras and cardinals. I never got around to adding them before. With proper lower cover and the predators will be to large to really mess with them.

Opinions on wolf and aggression? I have seen them house together before, but I've been gone for a couple years and want opinions!!
Opinions for growth rate of adding such monsters.

Filtration... I have 2 FX5, 300 rated sump.

Thanks in advance for the help.

If still in Florida. Wolves and atf are illegal.

Will be out upon setup, but I appreciate your concern!!
In that case you can combine wolves and atd. Growth is slow for tiger fish at 0.5in per month if I remember right. Depends on tank husbandry.

Wolves will grow 1inch per month till 12 inch then slow down.

Should be able to keep the two together.

Thanks. Sounds about right on the wolf depending on if he is being stuffed or not. I don't recall the aro ... I know I put him in after the armatus and had no issues. The Armatus were explosive on their growth.

Probably will need some SD’s to spread out aggression in case fish are still out growing each other.

Good point. I am pretty excited. Not excided to move the tank though. What a nightmare!

Well I'm sure you know the max sizes of the fishes. Due to the size of the tank id say do a black instead of silver so you can house it for life. And I'm sure you know to avoid gatf. As well for the same reason and they're also the most timid normally. As far as having those small fish with the preds. It has been tried and always fails so it seems. They slowly disappear. I think the best example is the guy from Germany with who had the 22" aimara with neons in a 450g. Wolves personality can vary a lot. Most of the time Though they aren't really bad as long as they're not messed with ime. They almost always bite anything that comes in after them once to establish dominance ime. And leave alone the fish in before them; as long as they're left alone. I'd advise introducing the wolf last after any bottom dwellers. I'd say get the atf first grow it out then get the black aro when the atf is around 6". In the mean time can add those small fish you don't want to be eaten to grow with the atf and hope for the best. From there I'd say the cats you want to grow to around 1' to avoid predation. Nothing that will be to aggressive or the wolf will likely kill it if it's persistent especially since they occupy they same part of the tank.

Now the other side of the coin ime with keeping wolves with edible tankmates. My curu never bothered bichirs or my jaguar cat. However they were in before the wolf. I had a mala with a small pair of convicts he left alone but again they were added before him when I tried to add anything else even a little bigger than them it became food.

So Ime to have the best luck, introduce the wolf last and smaller. Keep him well fed, give him his own hide, and dithers only hurt the bioload lol.
