Armatus eating drought... ASAP

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Longest mine went was about 4 or 5 days, and that was a good long while back. Just today during feeding my armatus picked up a large piece off the tile, he'll do it from time to time - not a daily thing. Just keep trying, not many animals will willingly starve themselves to death unless there is some underlying problem.

You could try re-arranging the tank decor, break up each fishes territory and let them readjust on their own. Give them a day or two then try feeding again.

Hope everything works out for you man. I know these fish can be a pita sometimes.

mine eats massivores off the bottom all the time, and although doesnt stuff himself, he always eats 3-4 .... that being said i have heard of them going on hunger strikes

What does the stomach of all of your armatus look like? Mine in kinda like a think blade of a knife. Not shrunken. I've seen the armatus who just ate their food with a stomach that a bit rounder at the sides.

i'll add my fake plant. bad stuff seems to happen everytime I take it out! lmao!

What's the longest time you guys have your armatus fast?
Sometimes it's over a week.It used to bother me but now I take it as part of the fish's routine and as was said earlier, when he gets hungry enough he's right back at it.

Here are a few pics of my Armatus. I don't know if these pics help or answer any of your questions. I don't know how to describe the way his stomach looks but it isn't rounded or bloated looking.

they are not an easy fish to tell if he has a full belly, but blade like sounds about right, in his pectoral fin area

I know it's not an army, but my old tat once went for three weeks without eating at about 7". He came through it and just started eating again one day as if nothing happened with no apparent ill effects.

I still haven't seen my armatus eat in front of me. :S

it's still healthy though.
