will yours do the same and chanrge it...sometimes even fang it and have it in his mouth...then spit it out?

What do you feed????????

Trev. , My 15" Rhom does this quite often. I just let him go until he wants to start eating again, it is not uncommon for them to do this in the wild aswell. I was going to say check your PH, sometimes if PH drop to low they'll slow down on eating but I know you have a drip system so that rules that out. So far my ARMATUS hasn't had that problem, but I only feed him 2, sometimes 3 feeders at a time, so he may always be hungry.

well through the last week he ate maybe 1-2 whole pcs of shrimp all week, tried smelt..no intrest. Every pc of shrimp catches his eye and he acts like he wants it but most of the time will etiher push it around with his nose or will spit it out...

Should i try something different?

i wouldnt worry about it. when my guy stops eating, ill give him a feeder and he comes around in a few days time.

they prob cant burn enough energy in our tanks, like they would in the wild.

what're water params? gars do the same thing when params are off.

water change schedule is 50% 3-4 times a week tank size is just 150 gallon. tankmates 1 silver dollar, armatus, 3 small hystrix 2 x 4.5" and 1 x 6"

about a 8 time turn over.

ph 7.8
ammonia 0
nitirite 0
nitrate 30-40

i do not think it is water quality at all. it is a stubborn fish...wanting feeders i think
