Congrats!
Wonder if you can help me on this one... It only took 3 days for me to wean mine on dead, but they don't slam at it aggressively and don't eat alot of it also. The thawed feeders float at the surface and it takes a good few minutes for the guys to finally eat it. I don't know how to improve their enthusiasm towards frozen foods.

u kind of cant :(

mine goes on eating strikes here and there... it helps to have tankmates w them to compete

Right... maybe I'll feed them live feeders here and then...
My method of weaning is to starve them for two days and feed them freshly killed feeders (killed by me), after a few days of this they'll be ready to take the frozen foods. Very effective, just thought I would share.

nice thread guys, my prob was when i starved em, my bigger army started attacking the smaller one. Finally sold the smaller one, now I can starve him without worries

just thought id share this..
my bigger armatus strikes down on food and gets wild if i starve it for longer than 2 days. i do this occassionally. feed him and fatten him up every feeding for a straight 3-4 days then starve for 2-3 days. after the drought, he'll strike hard on the food. thats how i tricked him to eat beef heart!:headbang2

vary the diet and starve longer than 3 days..
as to the big appetite issue, maybe it varies from fish to fish..
one of mine has a bigger appetite but not the other one.

Thanx for the tips! I'm currently trying to get them on weather loaches, they are easy to find and cheap where I live.

Both armatus are off live! my new one took faster to accept non live and even eating beef heart!

this is huge for me as nothing in my tank is on live feeders anymore!
both armatus are on smelt, shrimp, halibut and beef heart. ill try frozen krill next.;)
