Armatus grew 5"+ in less than 3 months

What are u feeding yours. How many u have together.

I only have 2 in a 150 right now. I tried to get them off feeders but one of them was never interested in tilapia filets and the other went after it immediately but never ate it. Everyday it would just attack and then spit out immediately so after a month of neither of them eating it, I just went back to feeders.

Cool im keeping mine on feeders thats mainly what he eats, but he also crushes tilapia 2-3 times a week.

For those who enquired about cichla & Armatus - mine live together no issues, if anyone is the boss, it's the cichla.

They also do well with Shomburgkii in my experience so i wouldn't say characins isn't a big no no.

FishOnCampus sorry for the hijack - amazing growth, sounds like you have a massive shoal - any chance to get a FTS or a quick video to see the movement of them all?

It's hard to believe a 12" armatus used to fetch $500 and an 18" $1000

Isn't that the truth. I remember offering to prepay at $350 for any size I could get. But then again there was less then a dozen we knew of ever being imported at the time. :(

Keep us updated! Will be sweet to watch them grow and see how a shoal that size turns out! Having them on talapia would be much easier on the wallet then live, that's for sure. Supplying even a trio of them with feeders gets spendy fast...

Can you share what kind of current are you running in there? And what you're you using for air? Just curious..... I like getting other people's care info out in the open on here, so it's easy to look back on when reflecting back on how similar fish have been raised in hopes of getting an idea why some of us have so much trouble with these fish.....
